Zedith M. (Leichtamer) Gaines
Zedith M. (Leichtamer) Gaines, age 85, of Canton, died Saturday June 2, 2007 in her daughters' home following a brief illness. She was born April 13, 1922 in Flushing, OH, to the late Roy and Sadie (Lyle) Nichols. She was a Canton area resident for the past 27 years prior to which she was a resident of Magnolia. Zedith was a 1939 graduate of Carrollton High School and was employed as a secretary at Magnolia Grade School and the Canton City School of Practical Nursing for many years. She was a member of North Industry Christian Church and was active with the Leisurelees; she was also a member of the Canton South AARP. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Leichtamer in 1989; second husband, Fred Gaines in 1998; one brother, Harold Nichols; three sisters, Jeanette Rainsberger, Helen Hall and Sarah Elizabeth Martin. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Jim Manges of Canton South; two grandchildren and their spouses, Jenny and Dave Morehart of Canal Fulton, Doug and Sarah Manges of Pittsburgh, PA; nine great grandchildren, Kaylie, Coby, Carter, Gabe, Lydia, Abbey, Gideon, Elijah and Malachi; two step-daughters, Sylvia and her husband, Bill Schneider of New Philadelphia, Nancy Teorbett of Louisville; step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday June 6, 2007 at 11:00am in the North Industry Christian Church with Stephen Kimbrel officiating. Interment in Magnolia Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 6-9pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to North Industry Christian Church at 425 - 45th St SW, Canton, OH 44706.
