William J. Young

William J. Young, age 77, passed away unexpectedly on November 2, 2023.
 
Bill “Santa” Young was born in Johnstown, PA on April 3, 1946, to John and Ethel Young. He spent the early years of his life in Meyersdale, PA and the last 59 years in Canton, OH.

Bill was an Army veteran and served his country in Vietnam.  Upon completion of his service, he worked at Mercury Clutch until its closing.  Bill then worked for North Canton City Schools as a bus mechanic until his retirement.  

Bill played Santa for 40-plus years!  He was active in collecting vintage toys and attending auctions.  

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Hollada; brother in law, Robert Hollada.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, William (Debbie) Young and Daniel Young; sister, Carol (Don) Menhorn; grandchildren, Campbell and Augstin Young; nieces, Susan (Dale) Rodtka, Kristin Menhorn; nephews, Rob Hollada, John (Dawn) Menhorn, and Donald (Chasadi) Menhorn; his beloved dog, Kripke.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 8th from 6-8 p.m. at Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton, OH.  Bill will be laid to rest at Union Cemetery in Meyersdale, PA.
