William E. Smith
William E. Smith, age 77, of Navarre, passed away Friday July 4, 2008 in Affinity Hospital, Doctors Campus, following a brief illness. He was born October 11, 1930 in Memphis, TN, to the late Lamar and Viola (Knowles) Smith. William was an East Canton resident for 46 years, retiring from Union Metal Manufacturing Co. in 1986 after 37 years of service and the Ford Motor Co. after 7 years. He was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church where he served on the building committee and as head usher for many years. He was a member of the Stark County Personnel Association. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Evelyn (Eakin); one brother, Lamar D. (Barbara) Smith of Rockton, IL; two brothers-in-law, William (Marilynn) Eakin, Gerald (Kay) Eakin; two sisters-in-law, Beatrice (Gerald) Booher, Geraldine Berry. Funeral services will be Tuesday July 8, 2008 at 11:00am in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard K. Thewlis officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call one hour before services at the church on Tuesday (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church at 108 Walnut St. E., East Canton, OH 44730. The Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
