Age 70, of East Canton died Saturday, September 13, 2014 in St. Joseph Care Center following an extended illness. Born December 2, 1943 in Canton, OH. to the late Burton K. and Kathleen (Reynolds) Mackey. He was a graduate of Malvern High School and an East Canton resident since 1967. William retired from PCC Airfoils after 43 years of service. He was a former member of the Minerva Fraternal Order of Eagles. Preceded in death by two brothers, Bert and Tom Mackey. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Stella L. (Phillips) Mackey; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tina and Rob Hooper of Louisville, Barb and Dennis Patterson of Canton; one son, David Mackey of East Canton; three grandchildren, Aaron, Ashley and DJ; one step granddaughter, Alex; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ethan and Betty Mackey of New Hampshire, Bob and Darlene Mackey of Minerva; two sisters-in-law, Carmel Mills of Louisville, Martha Mackey of Perry Township; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend, "Wayno" of Minerva. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Joseph Care Center for their wonderful care of William. A Celebration of Life will be Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 from 4 – 7 pm at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 108 E. Walnut St., East Canton, OH. 44730. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
