William Dews
Age 79, of North Canton died Friday, February 3, 2012 in the Aultman Compassionate Care Center. Born March 14, 1932 in Massillon, OH. to the late Thomas and Ruby (Yoder) Dews. He was a North Canton resident since 2001 prior to which he resided in the East Canton and Malvern areas most of his life. He was a 1952 graduate of Canton McKinley High School and retired from Aultman Hospital in 1997 after 18 years of service. William was a member of East Nimishillen Church of the Brethren where he was a member of the deacon board and was a former member of Center Church of the Brethren. William served as a volunteer for the Brethren Volunteer Service and the Brethren Disaster Relief Ministries. Preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn L. Dews in 2000; three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Fern (Bendsen) Snyder Dews; two sons and daughter-in-law, Jeffery Dews of East Canton, Greg Dews and Pam Jeffery of Carrollton; one daughter and son-in-law, Jerri and William Davidson of North Canton; eight grandchildren, Rosalie Dews, Joshua Knepper, Justin Knepper, Jasper Dews, Joseph Dews, Danny Dews, Billy Davidson and Daniel Davidson; one great granddaughter, Alkelethia Grace Davidson; two step children and spouses, Christina Snyder and Christopher Coon of Ann Arbor, MI., Mark and Natasha Laity-Snyder of Virginia; honorary daughter in Finland, Hannele Lillstrang; honorary grandchildren in Finland, Daniel, Andreus and Lukas Lillstrang; two brothers; one sister; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Feb 7, 2012 at 11:00 am in Center Church of the Brethren, 2801 Ravenna Ave. N.E., Louisville, OH. 44641 with Pastor Vern Hostetler officiating. Interment in Center Church Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church from 10 – 11 am. Memorial donations may be made to Brethren Disaster Ministries, P.O. Box 188 New Windsor, MD. 21776-0188.
