Wayne I. Gantz
Wayne I. Gantz, age 70, of East Sparta died Thursday, March 20, 2008 in Mercy Medical Center following a sudden illness. Born July 2, 1937 in Navarre, OH. to the late William L. and Dorothy (Reed) Gantz. Wayne was one of 23 children of which eight brothers were killed in WWII. He was an East Sparta resident most of his life and a Marine Corp veteran having served in the Korean War. Retired from Iron Workers Local #550 in 1999 after 35 years of service. Member of American Legion Post #44, past member of Sandy Valley Eagles and VFW Canton. Survived by his wife of 26 years, Carolyn A. (Barnosky) Gantz; four sons and daughters-in-law, Twins Wayne and Blaine Losey both of Canton, Matthew and Becky Gantz of Cincinnati, Timothy and Pat Gantz of Canton South, one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Reid McLeod of Canton South; two step-daughters and spouses, Melanie and Anthony Kidd of Canton South, Teresa and Brian Hupp of Dover; 11 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; closes remaining siblings, William Gantz of Tampa, Fl, George Gantz and Edna Weiley both of Navarre; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Monday 6-8pm.
