Walter H. Betz
Walter H. Betz, age 79, of North Canton, died Wednesday morning, July 14, 2004 in his home following an extended illness. Born in East Canton, OH., on December 11, 1924, son of the late Harry P. and Stella E. (Ritchey) Betz. A life resident of the East Canton and North Canton areas. Retired from Superior Machine after 50 years of service. Walter's hobby was wood carving and he also liked to bicycle, walk and travel. Former member of the Hall of Fame Woodcarvers and the Star County Bicycle Club. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris L. (Baker); one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Alisa Betz of Massillon; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynne and Steve Montgomery of Canton, Diane and John Pretorius of Tallmadge; three gransons and spouse, Craig M., Tim (Angela) and Cadet Joe Betz; four grandaughters,
Renee, Elaine, twins: Megan and Hannah Montgomery; one great grandaughter, Kendel Betz; one sister, Gertrude Graham of Bolivar;
three nieces and spouses, Gayle (Ken)Low, Phyllis (Jim) Kline and Lucinda (Randy) Bates. Walter's request was to have no calling hours or funeral services. Graveside services will be Friday, July 16, 2004, at 10:00am in Sunset Hills Burial Park with Aultman Hospice Chaplain, Paul Rudy officiating. The family request no flowers be sent and memorial donations be made in Walter's name to The Aultman Hospice Program @ 2821 Woodlawn N.W., Canton, OH. 44708.
