Vivian C. Starkey
Age 97, of Canton died Friday, November 24, 2017 in her home following a brief illness. Born November 17, 1920 in Alvy, WV to the late William and Emma (Hamilton) Baker. She was a Canton resident since 1946 and formerly employed by Beaber Sales for 15 years. Vivian was a member of Northwest Church of Christ and served as a Sunday school teacher for 45 years. She was a life member of Stepping Stones which is affiliated with Ohio Valley University. Vivian was an avid singer having performed at many various functions. Preceded in death by her husband, Groff Starkey; one brother, Wendell Baker; three sisters, Geraldine Baker, Winifred Baker and Gertrude Spencer. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Gwen and Harry Rose, Penny and Commander George Wallace (retired US Navy); three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Ted and Terri Starkey, Mark Starkey, Grady and Debbie Starkey; 10 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one sister, Lynna Beaber. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at 10:30 am in the Northwest Church of Christ, 3904 38th Street NW, Canton, OH. 44718, with Lance Lindenberger officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. and one hour prior to the service at the church from 9:30 - 10:30 am. Memorial donations may be made to Northwest Church of Christ or Ohio Valley University.
