Spaulding, Vivian Faye (Douglas)
passed away in her home surrounded by her family on May 13, 2009 due to an extended illness. She was born December 5, 1925 in Hocking County, Ohio to the late James Roy and Lillian (Lanning) Douglas. Vivian moved to East Canton with her family when she was a teenager. She was a member of the graduating class of 1942 at East Canton High School. Viv pursued a career at The Timken Company until she began her career as a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, East Canton and the American Legion Auxiliary, Lowell D. Oberly Post #667 in East Canton. Vivian was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil D. Spaulding; sister and brother-in-law, Lillian and Delbert Baum; brother, Harold Douglas; brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Ruth Douglas; sister-in-law, Kate Douglas. She is survived by a daughter, Judith Spaulding; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Diana Spaulding all of East Canton; two granddaughters, Elizabeth Spaulding of Massillon, Grace Spaulding of Akron; one brother, Leo Douglas of East Canton; sister-in-law, Ilene Douglas of Nelsonville, OH; several nieces and nephews. The family extends special thanks and love to Mom's caregiver, Mrs. Loretta Shearer. Appreciation also goes to Alliance Community Hospital Visiting Nurses and Hospice, who made Mom's journey easier for her and all who love her. Funeral services will be Saturday May 16, 2009 at 10:00am in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Rev. Richard K. Thewlis officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Friday (tonight) 6-8pm in the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
