Virgil W. Reed
Virgil W. Reed, age 85, of East Canton, passed away Monday October 27, 2008 in Oakhill Manor Care Center. He was born August 4, 1923 in Waynesburg, OH. to the late Ray W. and Ruth Carma (Clapper) Reed. He was a life resident of the Waynesburg and East Canton area. Virgil was a 1942 graduate of Waynesburg High School and retired from Metropolitan Ceramics in 1988. He was a member of Christ Memorial Church, Robertsville, where he had served on the Missionary Board and was a member of the Robertsville Cemetery Board for 22 years. He was a member of Local #651 United Brick and Clay Workers of America where he served as Recording Secretary for several years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Ruth L. Reed in 2005; two brothers, Ray Jr. and Donald Reed; one sister, Viola Kail. He is survived by four brothers and a sister-in-law, Verl and Margaret Reed of Waynesburg, James Reed of Magnolia, Harold Reed of Robertsville, Ralph Reed of Waynesburg; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Helen and Larry Cross of East Canton, Evelyn Leichtamer of Magnolia, Linda and Warren "Fred" Young of Magnolia; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday October 30, 2008 at 10:00am in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Rev. Jeffrey Lord and Rev. James Mathewson officiating.
