Virgil Miner
Virgil Miner, age 85, of Canton, died Friday October 7, 2005 in Mercy Medical Center following a brief illness. Born, November 30, 1919 in Philippi, WV, to the late Samuel and Mary (Newman) Miner. He was a Canton area resident since 1951, retiring from Republic Steel in 1985 after 30 years of service. Virgil was a WWII Army veteran. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley, Herbert and Bradford Miner. He is survived by his wife, Gertrude J. (Curry) to whom he was married 53 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Don Hughes of Canton; three grandchildren, Heather Netrval and Darrell Hughes both of Canton, Tishia Hughes of Massillon; one great grandson, Dylan Hughes of Massillon; one brother, Clifford Miner of Philippi, WV. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave with interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Monday 6-8pm.
