Virgil C. Garner, age 83, of Canton died Sunday, March 18, 2007 in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Battlesburg, OH. on January 5, 1924 to the late Clyde and Catharine (Brothers) Garner. He was a life resident of the Canton area and a WWII Army Air Corps veteran. Retired from Republic Steel and had been a teacher with Magnolia and Middlebranch Schools and former principle at Plain Center. Member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he was a life time choir director, Sunday school teacher and active in various other activities. Preceded in death by an infant nephew, Ronald Lee Garner. Survived by one sister, Donna Jeanne McDannel of Canton; one brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Ruth Garner of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 22, 2007 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Daniel Wilson officiating. Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 pm. Memorial donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 7344 Ridge Ave. S.E., East Sparta, OH. 44626.
