Viola "Jeanie" Shaffer
Age 78, of Canton, passed away Friday March 23, 2012 in Meadow Wind Care Center. She was born May 29, 1933 in Canton to the late Ory and Viola Mae (Bowser) Gaul. Jeanie was a resident of Canton and formerly resided in the South Bay area in California and Mesa, Arizona. She had served as a nurse's aide for several years and was an avid bingo player, enjoying the games at Central Catholic High School. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, Edward Robert Shaffer; five brothers, Burl, Clyde, LaMoyne "Whitey", Paul and her twin, Ory Gaul; one sister, Pearl "Cookie" Sheets. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Gloria and David Smith of Canton, Deborah Shaffer of Canton; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Anthony and Lee Shaffer of Mesa, AZ, Michael "Micky" Cross of Cedar City, UT; 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Morrison of Canton, Elsie Thompson of Carson City, NV; one brother, Thomas Gaul of Lake Elsinore, CA; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Meadow Wind, their mascot, "Mulligan" and AseraCare Hospice. Friends may call Monday March 26, 2012 from 5-7pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. There are no other services.
