Vernon L. Stewart
Age 86, of Canton, passed away Saturday March 21, 2015 in Hanover Health Care. He was born May 22, 1928 in Newcomerstown, OH to the late Clarence and Mae (Ritchey) Stewart. Vernon served during WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a Canton area resident most of his life. He retired from The Timken Company in 1990 after 40 years of service. Vernon was a faithful member of the Canton Baptist Temple where he was a member of the Ambassador Sunday school class, assisted in visitation and served as an usher. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Cincinat and one sister, Frieda Dexter. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Fern (Gaunt) to whom he was married 33 years; two sons, Jeff and Rick Stewart; one daughter, Diane Taylor; one step-son, Dennis R. (Dee) Perrine; one step-daughter, Sharon Perrine; step-brother, Jim Oney; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday March 25, 2015 at 11:00am in the Canton Baptist Temple with Pastor Mike Frazier officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday 6-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church (10-11am).
