Verda R. Fankhauser
Age 95, of Canton, passed away Thursday December 25, 2014 in Aultman Compassionate Care following a brief illness. She was born February 14, 1919 in Washington County, OH to the late Samuel G. and Laura (Pugh) Frye. She was a Canton resident since 1940. Verda retired from Campro/ Geauga Plastics Company after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ where she had been active with the Young at Heart. She was the great-great-granddaughter of William Everett Fry, an early pioneer of Washington County who served in the 92nd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. Verda enjoyed gardening, cooking, attending annual family reunions and reviewing family history. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy W. Fankhauser in 1992; one sister and five brothers. She is survived by one son, Samuel R. Fankhauser of Norwich, CT; one daughter, Pamela R. Lund of Monticello, ME; three brothers, Perry E. Frye of Hannibal, OH, Junior P. Frye of Clarington, OH and Ross M. Frye of Woodsfield, OH; four sisters, Florence M. Longwell of Powhatan Point, OH, Elma R. Grasso of Canton, Flossie A. Murphy of Canton and Rena M. Crawford of Clarington, OH; 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday December 29, 2014 at 11:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Bill Craddock officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends will be received Sunday 2-4pm and one hour before services on Monday (10-11am). The family would like to thank Home Instead Senior Care and Aultman Hospice for their wonderful care; the family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Verda's memory to either of these organizations.
