Thomas A. Smith
Thomas A. Smith, age 74, of Canton, died Tuesday December 26, 2006 in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. He was born May 19, 1932 in Midvale, OH to the late Allen W. and Agnes (Gribble) Smith. Thomas was a 1950 graduate of Timken High School and was a Canton area resident most of his life. He retired from The Timken Company in 1994 after 44 years of service and had attended Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2471 and the VFW Post #5047 both of Navarre, United Steel Workers of America Local #1123. He and his wife were original members of Springwood Lake Camp Club. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, James W. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Janet M. (Sutara) to whom he was married 51 years; five children and their spouses, Timothy and Bonnie Smith of Canton, Donald T. and Stephanie Smith of Massillon, Patti Karcher of Canton, Pamela and Troy Gardner of Massillon, Brenda Kokinski of New Philadelphia; 11 grandchildren, Allen, Renee, Freddy, Trisha, Emily, Elizabeth, Samantha, Jennifer, Jacob, Cody and Connor; many nieces, nephews and very good friends. Funeral services will be Friday December 29, 2006 at 11:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Pastor William Johnson officiating. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery.
