Thomas T. Raycheck
Thomas T. Raycheck, age 83, of Canton, passed away Saturday December 29, 2007 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. He was born May 23, 1924 in Lemont Furnace, PA, to the late Mike and Antonia (Mazur) Raycheck. Thomas was a WWII Army veteran having served in Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, and the Rhineland. He was captured, December 21, 1944 during the Battle of the Bulge at the Siegfried Line, and was a POW for four months at Stalag 4B in Germany. He was awarded the POW Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 4 Bronze Star attachments, World War II Victory Medal and the Honorable Service Lapel Button, WWII. He was the former owner/operator of Mansfield Saw Co. which he operated for 40 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, North Industry Sportsmen's Club, Stanley Bowman American Legion and the VFW. He truly enjoyed hunting, fishing and the many rounds of golf he played. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Emily Raycheck; two sisters and three brothers. He is survived by two daughters, Joanne and Shirley and her life partner, Jerry Singer; three sons, Thomas and his life partner, Sue, Ronald, Steve and his wife Joan; two grandsons, Jeromy and Jason; three great grandchildren, Peyton, Mitchell and Branded; one sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Pete Longo. Funeral services will be Thursday January 3, 2008 at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Fr. Gerald Sommer, MSC, officiating. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
