Thomas Fred McKinney
Age 68, of Louisville, went home to the Lord on November 22, 2015 surrounded by his loving family following a hard fought battle with cancer. Tom was born in Coal City, WV to Fred and Delsie (Butler) McKinney. Tom married his loving wife of 49 years, Blanche (Childs) on July 24, 1966. He served in the U.S. Army 1966-1968 stationed at Ft. Carson, CO. He returned to Ohio and became a member of the Teamsters Union and was an owner-operator truck driver for more than 40 years. His heart was always in farming. Tom loved to work sun up to sun down in the fields and with the animals. He started McKinney Stables in 2013 and operated it until his health prevented him earlier this year. Tom loved to golf with his sons-in-law and friends, he always enjoyed entertaining with a good story. He was admired for his honesty, his strange sense of humor and his strong work ethic. He is preceded in death by his father, Fred McKinney; father-in-law, Dan Childs Jr; brother-in-law, David Mullens; sister-in-law, Peggy McKinney. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Blanche (Childs); two daughters, Melissa Ann (Richard) Mareno and Katherine Sue (Richard) Mitchell; the light of his eyes, his two grandchildren, Courtney Sue Mitchell and Richard B. “Mitch” Mitchell; four sisters, Alene Mullens, Phyllis (Clifford) Davidson, Edna (Addison) Mills and Robin McKinney-Giannelli; five brothers, David (Debbie) McKinney, Jerry (Noreen) McKinney, Ray Haslam, Rocky (Brenda) McKinney and Marvin (Kim) McKinney; his mother, Delsie McKinney; mother-in-law, Kathleen Childs; numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the many friends that helped at the farm, especially throughout this past year. Funeral services will be Saturday November 28, 2015 at 1:00pm in the East Canton Church of God with Pastor Chet Carl officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Friends will be received Friday 6-8pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hope Life Church at 2033 Overcrest St., Alliance, OH 44601 or Grace Hospice at 3515 Massillon Rd., suite 270, Uniontown, OH 44685.
