Thomas Henry Long
Thomas Henry Long, age 83, of Navarre, died Monday March 6, 2006 in his home following an extended illness. He was born in Kipling, OH, to the late Elmer and Nettie (Noble) Long. Thomas was a Navarre resident for the past 7 years, prior to which he had resided in Canton since 1945. He was a WWII Coast Guard veteran, retiring from the Timken Company in 1987 after 43 years of service. He was a very active life member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where he had served on the Building Committee, as a Youth Leader and Trustee, and in various other capacities at the church. He is preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Helen Bockerding; one brother, John W. Long. He is survived by his wife, Martha J. (Syme) to whom he was married 61 years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas G. and Lois Long of Wisconsin, Jon and Jenny Long of Navarre; three daughters and sons-in-law, Terri and Dale Mize of Minnesota, Marsha and John Cunningham of Canton, Jill and David Nieb of Canton; a very much loved grandfather and great grandfather to Eric and Jacque Mize, Kim and Mike Myers, Amy Cunningham, Sarah and Dirk Stadtlander, Mark Long, Collin Nieb, Stacy and Megan Long, Lorenzo Fitzpatrick, Caleb and Joshua Mize, Eva Stadtlander; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Marybelle Long of Byesville, David and Lorna Long of Indiana; one sister, Jeannette Meighen of Cambridge; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday March 10, 2006 at 11:00am in the Otterbein United Methodist Church with Pastor Phil Raynes and Rev. Paul Gerycz officiating. Internment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Thursday 5-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave, and one hour before services at the Church on Friday (10-11am).
