THOMAS BURTON LAMBERT, of Canton, passed away October 12, 2018, after a long illness.
He was a longtime resident of Canton, born in Zanesville, Ohio, February 13, 1945, to the late Floyd A. Lambert and and the late Janet Maxwell Lambert. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ida Chastain Lambert. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law Shirley Sluter and his niece Lori Lambert. He is survived by his brother James (Vicki) Lambert, his sisters Martha Lambert and Donna (Richard) Fujie, his brother-in-law Timmie B. Chastain Jr., six nieces and three nephews, and several grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Tom, who was known by all as a loyal friend and mentor, was a 1963 graduate of Canton South High School, where he met Ida Marie Chastain. The couple was married in 1965. Tom served in the U.S. Army. After returning from his military service, he worked for Timken Company for more than 45 years, retiring as a millwright. At Timken, he was a mentor to many young men and women. Tom was an outdoors man from childhood. He hunted and fished. An exacting marksman, he loaded his own shells. He was proud of his many trophy fish catches, but he excelled as a marksman. He shot for the Timken Shooting Team for many years, besting all comers. Tom had a keen sense of justice and always did what he felt was right. A Mason for over 30 years, he was a member of the Caldwell Lodge #330 and Bolivar Chapter #368 OES member and in his time, served as Worshipful Master.
He will be remembered in a service at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home, Saturday, November 17, 2018, at 2:00 PM.
