Thelma L. Block
Age 91, of Canton, passed away Monday September 20, 2010 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. She was born October 16, 1918 in Lower Salem, OH to the late Henry and Flora (Stanley) Young. Thelma was a Canton area resident most of her life and a 1936 graduate of East Canton High School. She was a member of the Northwest Church of Christ and a former member of Stepping Stones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Rodney D. Block Sr. in 2000; one son, Rodney D. Block Jr. in 2008; two brothers, James and Walter Young; one sister, Dolly Mahoney. She is survived by one daughter, Carol Block of Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Theresa Block of Philadelphia, PA; four granddaughters, Elizabeth Block of Philadelphia, PA, Jennifer (Keith) Meyers of Jacksonville, FL, Rebecca Block of Canton, Cynthia Block of Jacksonville, FL; one great-grandson, Daniel Meyers of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter-in-law, Theodora Block of Canton; one sister-in-law, Boots Young of Canton. Funeral services will be Friday September 24, 2010 at 2:00pm in the Northwest Church of Christ at 3904, 38th St NW, Canton, OH 44718 with Keith Kull officiating. Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery.
