Sylvia Sue Cernik
Sylvia Sue Cernik, age 76, of Canton died Sunday, February 3, 2008 in Union Hospital, Dover following an extended illness. Born October 23, 1931 in Canton to the late Manon and Candace Buchanan. She was a life resident of Canton and a 1949 graduate of Timken High School. Member of First Church of the Resurrection. Sylvia was an excellent oil painter, seamstress and a wonderful loving mother. Preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nicole Cernik; a brother, Carl Buchanan; two sisters, Winnie Johnson and Clara Bell Shaub. Survived by her husband of 57 years, Jacob Cernik, Jr; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Grady Hudspeth of Canton, Susan and Lenny Dasco of Chesterland, OH; one son and daughter-in-law, Jacob A. and Valle Cernik of Canton; five grandchildren and spouses, Christa and Greg Wells, Marc and Jenny Hudspeth, Leo Dasco, Alex Dasco and Jake Cernik IV; two great grandchildren, Ean Hudspeth and Kayden Hudspeth; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Bea and Chuck Schuster, Marie and Jim Hardin; two brothers and sister-in-law, Charles Buchanan, Jack and Audrey Buchanan. Funeral services will be Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Pastor Bruce Monte officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Wednesday from 6 to 8pm. Memorial donations may be made to First Church of the Resurrection, 901 E. Tuscarawas St. Canton, OH. 44707.
