Stewart E. Unkefer Sr.
Age 79, of Malvern, passed away Thursday January 2, 2014 unexpectedly in Aultman Hospital. He was born August 20, 1934 in Waynesburg, OH to the late Ralph D. and Bessie M. (Weaver) Unkefer. He was an East Canton area resident most of his life and was a 1952 graduate of Malvern High School. Stewart retired from Iron Rock Capital in 2004 after 17 years of service and was formerly employed by Diebold Inc. and Portec. He was a member of Indian Run Christian Church and Minerva Christian Church where he served as an Elder, Sunday school teacher and was involved with the missions program. Stewart was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Donald Unkefer; one sister, Twila Herstine. He is survived by his wife, Bertha R. (Rogers) to whom he was married 57 1/2 years; three daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Ken Septer of Gahanna, OH, Sondra and Dan Lowery of Canal Fulton, Cheryl and Denny Krider of East Canton; one son, Stewart E. Unkefer Jr. of Malvern; seven grandchildren, Matt (Angie) Septer, Alecia (Scott Gifford) Septer, Aaron, Josh and Corey Lowery, David and Jenna Krider; one great-grandson, Lewis Septer; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Ruth Unkefer, Larry and Patty Unkefer, Phil and Carla Unkefer; one sister-in-law, Martha Haubert; one brother-in-law, Stanton Herstine; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Sunday January 5, 2014 at 2:00pm in Indian Run Christian Church with Terry Bailey officiating. Interment in Indian Run Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday 3-6pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton and one hour before services on Sunday at the church (1-2pm). Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
