Stella A. Svik
Age 98, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday July 7, 2014. She was born on January 6, 1916 in Steubenville, Ohio to Elizabeth (Mariol) Delia and Joseph Delia. Her family moved to Canton when Stella was 3 years old and she has been a life resident of Canton. Stella attended St. Mary's School, and was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. As a young adult she was the organist for the church choir. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed her family, home, piano, gardening, and being outdoors. She lived each day to the fullest, and we thank God for the many years we have had with her. She will live in our hearts forever, and we are comforted in knowing that her loving presence will remain with us always. Preceded in death by her parents, Elizabeth and Joseph Delia; brothers, Luke Delia and Ernest Delia; son-in-law, Steve Gilbert; grandson, Luke Andrew Trissel. She is survived by her loving husband, Stephen with whom she would have celebrated 69 years of marriage on July 28th; loving children, Veronica Svik, Stephen (Sue Ellen) Svik, Mary (Roger) Sidoti, Christine Palombo, and Rita (Matt) Trissel; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; her dear sister-in-law, Violet Svik. Stella was a former member of the Columbianas and had belonged to several Bridge clubs. There will be no calling hours in keeping with Stella's wishes. All who wish to celebrate the life of Stella are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday July 11, 2014 at 10:00am in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Fr. Benson Okpara as celebrant. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church at 1602 Market Ave S, Canton, OH 44707 or Crossroads Hospice at 3743 Boettler Oak Drive, Suite E., Green, OH 44685, in Stella's memory.
