Stella Mae Rice
Stella Mae Rice, age 83, of East Canton died Monday, August 7, 2006 in Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center following an extended illness. Born January 18, 1923 in Canton, OH. to the late David C. and Stella M.(Dieringer) Trushel. She was a life resident of the Canton area and charter member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. Also member of St. Benedict Rosary/Altar Society. Stella Mae was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, devoted to her family, very caring and compassionate, and a strong woman of faith. She was an avid card player, crocheter, reader and collector. She aided in the war effort during WWII, when she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" making airplane parts. Preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Lee; two brothers, Richard and David Trushel. Survived by her husband of 59 years, Carl Albert Rice; three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Roberta Rice of North Canton, Douglas and Diane Rice of East Canton, Jeffrey and Linda Rice of Bolivar; four daughters and sons-in-law, Carla and Joseph Howard of East Canton, Susan Rice of East Canton, Christine and Douglas DeLashmutt of Evansville, IN, Elizabeth and John Collins of East Canton; 16 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters and brother-in-law, Geraldine German of Canton, Miriam and Ervin Welch of Canton, Ruth Schmucker of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006 at 10:00am in St. Benedict Catholic Church with Fr. John E. Zuzik as celebrant. There will be no calling hours; the procession will form at the church.Entombment in Calvary Cemetery. Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton in charge of arrangements.
