Shirley Imogene Schaefer

Shirley Imogene Schaefer, 88, of Canton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at St. Luke Lutheran Community, North Canton. She was born on November 9, 1936, in Canton, Ohio, to the late Roy and Audrey (Haines) Carl, and remained a lifelong resident of Northeast Ohio.

Shirley was a member of the Chapel of Green and retired in 1999 after 30 years of service in the credit department at Sears and Roebuck Company. While she took great pride in her work, her true joy came from spending time with her husband, Glenn, whom she married on September 18, 1955, as well as their children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Glenn Schaefer, and infant granddaughter, Samone Gabrail Schaefer.

Shirley’s memory will be cherished by her loving husband, Glenn A. Schaefer; daughter, Cheryl (Calvin) Sommers; granddaughter, Clarissa (Tom) Mills; and siblings, Barbara Almasy and George Carl and great-grandson; Thomas Mills.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 17, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Sanders Funeral Home, 218 East Nassau Street, East Canton, Ohio, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Brett Faris will officiate. Interment will take place at Robertsville Cemetery.

Shirley’s legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to her family will live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain in the cherished memories of her family and friends.
