Ruth Elaine Slicker, age 73, of Louisville, passed away Friday May 23, 2008 in her home following a long battle with cancer. She was born October 31, 1934 in Louisville to the late Norman and Evelyn (Eshelman) Krichbaum. Ruth was a life resident of the Louisville area and a 1952 graduate of Marlboro High School. She received her degree in education from Kent State University and retired as a Physical Education Teacher after 12 years of service. She was a member of Paradise United Church of Christ, Louisville, where she was a member of the Bell Choir and Needlework Fellowship. Ruth was the Louisville High School J.V. Girls Fast Pitch Softball coach for 5 years and competed in the state and national Senior Olympics; competing in the long jump, high jump, javelin, discus and 100 meter dash. She was inducted into the Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame for Women's Softball. She was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan and enjoyed reading, farming, animals and all sports. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Slicker in 2000. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Dolly and Jim Perry of Knoxville, TN, Tim Slicker of Elgin, IL, Dan and Sarah Slicker of Louisville, Nancy and Blake Madden of Dayton, OH; five grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Sue Krichbaum of Louisville; one sister, Alice Fitzpatrick of Louisville. Funeral services will be Tuesday May 27, 2008 at 10:00am in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Dr. Kline Roberts III officiating. Interment in Mapleton Cemetery.
