Ruth Helen Gogerty
Ruth Helen Gogerty, age 85, of Mt. Airy, N.C. and formerly of the Canton area, passed away Tuesday April 29, 2008 in Golden Living Center Nursing Home in Mt. Airy, NC. She was born October 25, 1922 in Triadephia, WV. to the late Frederick and Zella (Dyer) Gogerty. Ruth was a Mt. Airy resident since 2002 and a member of Salem United Methodist Church in Mt. Airy. She was a former member of Epworth United Methodist Church and the East Sparta United Methodist Church. She had served as a volunteer at Northern Hospital in Mt. Airy for 2 years. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Dye-Braucher and Mary Whiteleather. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Brady Jones of Mt. Airy, NC; one granddaughter and her spouse, Deanna and Chris Cangemi of Clayton, NC; one grandson and his spouse, Todd and Candice Weaver of Dothan, AL; 6 great grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren and 2 step-great-great grandchildren; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice Smith of Canton, Alma and Leonard Dazey of Canton, Lois and Ralph Dazey of East Sparta, Dorothy and Donald Charton of East Canton, Marilyn and Thomas Fox of Navarre; one brother, F. Thomas Gogerty of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday May 3, 2008 at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on S. Cleveland Ave. with Rev. Samuel Martin officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call Friday 4-6pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Salem United Methodist Church Building Fund at 124 Myers Dr., Mt. Airy, NC 27030.
