Rufus E. Carper
Age 87, died Thursday December 9, 2011 in Aultman Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Tyrone, PA, to the late Archie and Celia (Houck) Carper. He retired from The Timken Roller Bearing Co. after 47 years of service. Rufus was a Little League Baseball coach for many years. He was an avid Canton South football and basketball fan where held reserved seat tickets for more than 50 years. He was also an avid Pittsburg Steeler fan. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Arlene Carper; granddaughter, Lori Lambert. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and James Lambert of Harpers Ferry, WV; one son, Barry Carper and his special friend, Sandy Johnson of Canton; six grandchildren, Michael Lambert of Charles Town, WV, Jeffery Lambert of Harpers Ferry, WV, Daniel Lambert of Charlotte, NC, Christina Lambert of Kearneysville, WV, Nathan Carper of Canton and Rachel Lambert of Harpers Ferry, WV; four great-grandchildren, Randy and Tyler Lambert, Mary and Bryan Smoot. Funeral services will be Thursday December 15, 2011 at 11:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Pastor James Simone officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
