Roy M. Diekmann, age 73, of Navarre, passed away Monday January 21, 2008 in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. He was born March 30, 1934 in Navarre, to the late Anton and Emma (Reis) Diekmann. Roy was a life resident of the Navarre area and a 1952 graduate of Navarre High School. He retired from Fairless Local School District in 2000, prior to which he was employed by Schneider Lumber for 30 years. He was the former owner/operator of Diekmann Cabinet Shop for many years. Roy was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church where he served as Trustee and Boy Scout Liaison; he had also served in many other capacities throughout the years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Glen and Herbert Diekmann; three sisters, Arline Dunn, Doris Klick and Mary Kindelberger. He is survived by his wife, Norma J. (Lenhart) to whom he was married 48 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Tina and David Bair of Hudson, OH; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Melissa Diekmann of Canton; five grandchildren, Lauren and Andrew Bair, Allyson, Matthew and Krista Diekmann; one sister, Emma Bednar of N. Canton; three sisters-in-law, Doris Arrington of Massillon, Ruth Lenhart of N. Canton and Ladina Diekmann of Hawaii; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion dog, Shanna. Funeral services will be Friday January 25, 2008 in Otterbein United Methodist Church at 11:00am with Rev. Debra J. Speer and Rev. Paul Gerycz officiating. Interment in Zoar Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 5-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home and one hour before services at the church (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Otterbein United Methodist Church Memorial Fund at 6025 Shepler Church Rd SW, Navarre, OH 44662.
