Rosiland Anita (nee Burleson) Parker
Age 75, of Massillon, passed away unexpectedly Monday October 5, 2009 in Belmont Community Hospital, Bellaire, OH. She was born March 15, 1934 in Minneapolis, NC to the late Oscar Zebulon and Florence Ackie (Young) Burleson. Rosiland was a Massillon area resident since 1968 prior to which she had resided in Canton. She was a graduate of Cranberry High School, Minneapolis, NC and the Canton Actual Business College. Rosiland retired from American Electric Power in 1993 after 22 years of service and was a member of Mckinley Eagles Aerie #2370, Ohio Power Retirees and the Ohio Power Veterans Club. Rosiland loved life, taking flying lessons in the 1970i�½s, square dancing, traveling abroad and her annual fall trips back to North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her former husband, Hobart Mckinley Burrough; five brothers, Ray, Alpha, Carl, Fred and Roy Burleson; three sisters, Frankie Lela Mabry, Ruth Rowland and Flora Johnson; brother-in-law, Dr. E. S. Rowland. She is survived by her husband, Chester D. Parker to whom she was married 17 years; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Ronald Shepherd of Perry Township, Pamela and William Rodgers of Massillon; two stepchildren and spouses, Jeffrey and Nancy Parker of Greenville, SC, Deborah and Wayne Southward of Springfield, OH; she will be deeply missed by four grandchildren, Matthew, Marissa, Tara and Tyler; five step-grandchildren, Jacob, Emilee, Matthew, Amanda and Eric; three great-grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ralph and June Burleson of Navarre, Ted Burleson of East Sparta; two sisters, Stella Louise Guy of Clinton Township, MI, Carolyn Hope Canupp of Minneapolis, NC; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday October 9, 2009 at 1:00pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Rev. David Harmon officiating. Internment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens.
