Ronald (Dewey) Dwight McGee

Age 85, of East Canton died Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Aultman Compassionate Care Center surrounded by his family. Born June 20, 1932 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Carl and Theresa (Neville) McGee. He was an East Canton resident most of his life and a U.S. Army Korean War veteran. He retired from Republic Steel in 1995 and had previously worked at Robertsville Brickyard. He formerly served as a deacon and trustee for many years at Indian Run Christian Church in East Canton and had also attended First Christian Church in Canton, Ohio. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, country music and going to auctions. His favorite hobby was woodworking, he completed projects for his children, grandchildren, and siblings. Preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Twila (Lowery); one sister, Ellen Wilson; one great-grandchild. He is survived by his daughters, Linda (Marty) Smith, Stacey (Peter) Schmotzer, and Jodie McGee; three grandchildren, who affectionately called him Gompa, Emily (Eric) Freds, Lydia (Tony) Martin, and Rachael (Brad) Snyder; three great-grandchildren, Lily, Ezekiel, and Piper; three sisters, JoAnn Poole, Carol Browning, and Pansy (Dave) Kiser; four brothers, Roger, Pat (Karen), Bill (Rose), and Steve (Lou Anne) McGee; numerous nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be Thursday, Feb 1, 2018 at 11:00 am in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5 – 7 pm. Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church of Malvern.
