Ronald D. Colaner
Former owner/operator of WRCW 1060AM (1982-2004) passed away suddenly Wednesday June 2, 2021, in Mercy Hospital at the age of 85. Ron “Rock” ran the morning trivia program for 20 years and spent most of his life in the radio industry. He was inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 1999. He was born May 18, 1936, in Canton to the late Louis and Anna (George) Colaner. Ron was a 1956 graduate of Uhrichsville High School and a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. He is preceded in death by one brother, Charles Colaner; sister-in-law, Ellen Colaner. Ron is survived by his life partner, Mary Anne Hohler with whom he shared 40 years; three children, Julie (Jon) Finnicum, Katherine (Max) Offenberger and Sandra (James) Parrish all of New Philadelphia; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence P. Colaner of Massillon and James L. Colaner of Dennison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday June 8, 2021, at 10:00am in St. Joan of Arc with Fr. G. David Weikart as celebrant. Entombment will be in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Family and friends will be received Monday 6-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home, 4041 Cleveland Ave S., Canton, OH 44707.
