Roland E. Smedley, age 93, of Canton died Sunday, January 11, 2009 in McKinley Health Care Center. Born November 23, 1915 in Corning, OH. to the late William Hayes and Adeline (Rutter) Smedley. Roland was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and he retired from Diebold after 34 years of service. He was a member of United Gospel Tabernacle Church of God. Preceded in death by his wife, Maybelle Smedley in 1981; one granddaughter; several brothers and sisters. Survived by one daughter, Barbara Smedley of Canton; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Susan Smedley of Alliance; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at 1:00 pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Pastor Kenneth Kasler officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Wednesday from 12 – 1 pm.
