Rodger W. Baker
Age 80, of Canton, passed away Wednesday May 4, 2011 in Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. He was born September 30, 1930 to the late Herbert and Merle (Brownsword) Baker. He was a life resident of the Stark County area and a 1948 graduate of Canton South High School where he was named All-Ohio in basketball. He was the owner/operator of Baker Leather and the former Rodeens Tavern for 15 years. Rodger was a member of the Canton South AARP #4385. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, John Baker. He is survived by his wife, Doreen J. (Bowser) to whom he was married 62 years; one daughter, Vickie Baker of Canton; two grandchildren, Nicole Benson of Idaho, Brian (Paula) Benson of North Carolina; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Badalucco who was the light of his life, Briana and Jacob Benson. A private family funeral will be conducted in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Spies officiating. Condolences or fond memories may be shared online at www.sandersfuneralhomes.com.
