Robert E. Werley
Age 85, passed away Tuesday February 4, 2014 in The Inn at University Village. He was born January 9, 1929 in East Canton to the late Ralph and Mabel (Lotz) Werley. Bob was a 1947 graduate of East Canton High School and was a Korean War Army veteran. Bob had formerly resided in Newport Beach, CA for 35 years where he retired from Corona del Mar High School in 2002 as a counselor. Bob was inducted into the East Canton High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his achievements in football and basketball and was inducted into the Findlay College Hall of Fame for basketball. Bob served as the boy's high school basketball coach at Findlay High School from 1955-1967. Bob was very accomplished in all sports and truly enjoyed all athletic competition. He is preceded in death by one brother, Emerson Werley; two sisters, Polly Bole and Kate Douglas. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Robert Puccio of Galt, CA; one son, David Werley of Carson City, NV; five grandchildren, Faith Anne Mickler, Andrew Mickler, Nichole Mickler, Seth Werley and Jessica Werley; one great-granddaughter, Liana Mickler; beloved friend and high school sweetheart, Joann Richardson; several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Bob's life will be Saturday February 8, 2014 at 3:00pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Terry Bailey officiating. Friends may call one hour before services on Saturday (2-3pm). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the East Canton High School Athletic Booster Club.
