Vanderwall, Robert Lee
age 74, of Deerfield Beach, FL., passed away peacefully Friday March 6, 2009 in his home with his family following an extended illness. He was born in Harvey, IL to the late Arthur and Mabel (White) Vanderwall. Robert retired from Superior Meats in 1997 after 37 years of service and was a Korean War Marine Corps veteran. He was Past Exalted Ruler of Massillon Elks Lodge #441, member of the Marine Corps League, VFW, American Legion Post #44, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, Canton South Community Men's Club and served as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He truly enjoyed his morning coffee with the "McDonalds Guys," He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was accomplished in many endeavors including, photography, gemology, fishing, real estate, golf, Egyptology and public speaking. His approach to live life with love and not fear was apparent to the end even through times of disappointment, heartache and illness. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Faith Rae Roach. He is survived by his wife, Delores (Monsanty) who was his greatest love and best friend for over 51 years; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Lynn Vanderwall, David and Tammy Vanderwall; one daughter and son-in-law, Alena and Ralph Soehnlin; nine grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, Autumn and Alexandra Vanderwall, Korenne Mason, Brook Seckman, Amanda Roach, Ralph and Emily Soehnlin; seven great-grandchildren, Blake Boehringer, Chloe, Mason, Cade and Noah Seckman, Isabella and Adrianna Roach, Parker Seeman; three brothers and sisters-in-law, William and Virginia Vanderwall, Jerry and Barb Vanderwall and Larry Rush; one sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Ed Quinlan. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services will be Saturday March 28, 2009 at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home. Friends may call one hour before services on Saturday (9-10am). Inurnment in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
