Robert L. Thelen Jr.
Age 70, of Akron, passed away Wednesday September 15, 2010 in Akron City Hospital. He was born December 8, 1939 in Canton, OH to the late Robert L. and Dawn (Van Dyne) Thelen Sr. Robert was a 1957 graduate of East Canton High School and was a resident of East Canton for 20 years. He was the owner/operator of Thelen Brothers for 20 years and a member of the Bricklayers Local #6. Bob enjoyed life, the seasons of the year and his fabulous Christmas light displays. Bob would do anything for anyone, which was evident in his many home repairs and specialty projects. He appreciated those in the "common jobs" workplace. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Gloria (Vallen) Vlahos-Thelen; one daughter and son-in-law, Shawna and Tim Waers and family; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Janean Thelen III and family, Michael and Melissa Thelen; three step-sons and spouses, Michael and Cathy Vlahos and family, Scott and Tina Vlahos and family, Greg and Mary Vlahos and family; one brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Linda Thelen. Funeral services will be Saturday September 18, 2010 at 1:00pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. Interment in Center Church Cemetery. Friends may call Friday 6-8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Women's Battered Shelter at 720 Spring Ave NE., canton, OH 44704.
