Robert P. Smith
Robert P. Smith age 74, of East Canton, passed away Wednesday January 14, 2009 in Green Meadows Health and Wellness Center following an extended battle with lung cancer. He was born October 8, 1934 in Canton to the late Leroy and Ida Smith. Robert was an East Canton resident for the past 20 years and a member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. He retired from The Timken Company after 42 years of service and had been employed by Walmart for 10 years. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret J. Smith on December 8, 2008; one granddaughter, Laura Harrell; two brothers and one sister. He is survived by five children and spouses, Robert P. (Mary) Smith II of N. Canton, Bill (Brenda) Smith of Canton, John (Jennifer) Smith of Mesquite, TX, Jane Labus of Canton, Rebecca (Randy) Ward of Louisville; 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; one sister, Viola French of Canton; one sister-in-law, Millie Smith of N. Canton. A memorial service will be Wednesday January 21, 2009 at 1:00pm in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Thewlis officiating.
