Robert J. Secrest Sr.
Robert J. Secrest Sr, age 85, of East Canton, passed away Saturday, March 1, 2008 in Aultman Hospital. He was born August 10, 1922 on the family farm near Morges, OH, to the late Clarence E. and Mary E. (Witts) Secrest. Robert was a 1941 graduate of Waynesburg High School and was a WWII Army veteran having served in Europe with the 3rd Army, 351st Engineers as a Corporal. He was an East Canton resident for the past 50 years, retiring from The Timken Company in 1984 after 25 years of service; formerly employed by Republic Steel and NATCO. He was a member of Indian Run Christian Church and Robertsville Grange. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley A. Secrest, to whom he was married 60 years; one daughter, Kathy S. Dazey; two sisters, Carrie "Gertie" and Sarah Secrest; two brothers, Ernest and Everet Secrest. He is survived by three children and their spouses, Elizabeth Heid of North Canton, Robert J. Jr. and Kathleen Secrest of East Canton, Tommy and Jessica Secrest of Carrollton; 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at 11:00am in the Indian Run Christian Church with Terry Bailey officiating. Interment in Indian Run Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8pm in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Grange services at 5:45pm.
