Robert C. Pethtel
Robert C. Pethtel, age 79, of Canton, passed away Friday November 30, 2007 in Mercy Medical Center. He was born February 7, 1928 in East Liverpool, OH, to the late Robert C. and Ida Mae (Brown) Pethtel Sr. Robert was a Navy veteran retiring from Republic Steel in 1985 after 25 years of service and was also employed by the Luntz Corporation for 5 years. Member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 2370, McKinley Lodge #431 F&AM, Scottish Rite Valley of Canton, past President of the East Canton Lions Club. Robert, at the age of 14, began calling old barn square dances and in 1963 started calling modern western square dances and continued calling for 47 years, which was his true passion. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carol A. Pethtel in 1990; one daughter, Debra Pethtel; one son, Michael Pethtel; one grandson and five sisters. He is survived by four children, Alan Pethtel of Minneapolis, MN, Melissa Moore of Pasadena, Texas, Anne Bowers of Massillon, Janet Latto of Vermilion, OH; seven grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Kevin, Zachary, Zoe, Gage and Hunter; a very special friend, Delores Coffman of Canton. Friends may call Monday 4-7pm in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton. In keeping with Robert's wishes, he has been cremated and no other services are scheduled. The family requests no flowers, donations in his name may be made to the Akron Federation of Square Dance, c/o Bob Mace at 9099 Daniels Rd, Seville, OH 44273.
