Robert L. “Sam” May
Age 82 of Canton passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side, Thursday October 7, 2021. He was born August 1, 1939, in Canton to the late Glenn and Ada (Smith) May. Sam retired from the Teamsters Union Local #92 after 33 years of service where he worked for USF Holland Motor Freight. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, trips to the casinos, horse races, weekly poker games and the time spent with his family. Sam gladly provided safe transportation for the patrons of McCall’s Restaurant for many years. He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara F. May in 2004; one brother, James May, one sister, Sue Rodgers; great-grandson, Michael Ryan Gennett. Sam is survived by five children, Bob (Viki) May, Kay (Tom) Kovesci, Tim “Jake” (Anna) May, Tina (Joe) Gennett and Ken (Chris) May; eight grandchildren, Renee (Preston) Meyer, Lauren (Dave) Vinlove, Kristen (Andy) LaRoche, Tommy (Courtney) Kovesci, Elaina (Erik) Cowick, Ryan (Kelsey) Gennett, Jacob and Preston May; nine great-grandchildren, Declan, Rylan, Gemma, Avery, Della, Drake, Donvan, Kenton and Paige; one brother, John May; numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday October 12, 2021, at 10:00am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Rev. Delaney Young officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends and family will be received Monday 5-8pm in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Sam’s memory may be made to the Canton South Booster Club.
