Robert R. DeLong Sr.
Robert R. DeLong Sr, age 78, of East Canton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday December 28, 2006 in Aultman Hospital. He was born May 18, 1928 in North Canton to the late Vernon and Dorothy (Hildenbrand) DeLong. Bob was an Army Korean War Veteran and an East Canton resident since 1950. He was the former Owner/Operator of BD's Appliance Repair Service for 36 years and served as the Zoning Inspector for the village of East Canton. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where he was very active in many committees. He was a member of the Lowell D. Oberly American Legion Post #667, Jr. O.U.A.M., Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2374 and was a life member of the Brown Township Sportsman's Club. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and William DeLong; one sister, Pauline DeLong. He is survived by his wife, Virginia L. (Lloyd) to whom he was married 52 years; five children and their spouses, Robert R. and Susan DeLong Jr., Jeffery and Jennifer DeLong of East Canton, Valerie and Michael Novelli of East Canton, Denise and Kevin Martin of Canton, Dan and Sun DeLong of San Jose, CA; 17 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; one brother, Loren DeLong of Canton. Funeral services will be Saturday December 30, 2006 at 11:00am in the Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton with Rev. Eric Walch officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
