Robert D. "Sonny" Criswell
Robert D. "Sonny" Criswell, age 84 of Canton, died Wednesday August 22, 2007 in Country Lawn Care Center following an extended illness. He was born May 12, 1923 in Seminol, PA, to the late Robert B. and Josephine (Concatto) Criswell. Sonny was a life resident of the Canton area, retiring from the Timken Company in 1983. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church where he had served on parish council and as an usher. Sonny loved all sports and was a member of the Polish American Citizens Club, an avid golfer and the first 300 game at the old Maloney Lanes. He was a WWII Army veteran where he had served as a gunner. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Carmel Criswell and Norma Spurrier; three brothers, Charles, Bernard and William Criswell. He is survived by his wife, Helen (Wojtaszek) to whom he was married 55 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kris Criswell of East Sparta; one grandson, Adam Criswell; one sister and a brother-in-law, Rose and Dennis Quinn of Canton; one brother and sister-in-law, John Criswell, Nancy Criswell both of Canton; one brother-in-law, Anthony Wojtaszek of Canton; numerous nieces and nephews; and his extended family of Country Lawn Care Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday August 25, 2007 at 10:00am in All Saints Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Bishop as celebrant. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
