Robert G. Cogar
Age 81, of Massillon, passed away Sunday April 1, 2012 in Aultman Compassionate Care Center. He was born November 24, 1930 in Bolair, WV. Bob was a former resident of Carrollton for 18 years, prior to which a Canton area resident for 41 years. Bob was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from Republic Steel in 1992 after 37 years of service. He is a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Massillon and formerly was a member of Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church where he served on council for 16 years. Bob was an avid outdoorsman and truly enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada. He is survived by his wife, Virginia A. "Ginny" (Pawlowski) to whom he was married 62 years; one daughter, Cheryl Martin of Massillon; two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Lisa Cogar of Mooresville, NC, Jeff and Kim Cogar of Timmins, Canada; eight grandchildren, Shaun (Adaniz), Hannah, Montana, Hayden, Adam, Jacob, Noah and Joshua. Funeral services will be Thursday April 5, 2012 at 11:00am in Holy Trinity Lutheran Church at 4275 Lincoln Way W., Massillon, OH 44647 with Pastor Chip Belanga officiating. Interment in Kountze Memorial Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 5-8pm in the Sanders Funeral Home in East Canton and one hour before services at the church on Thursday (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Aultman Hospice at 2821 Woodlawn Ave NW, Canton, OH 44708 or the charity of your choice.
