Robert L. Burns Jr.

Age 60 of Canton passed away Thursday December 17, 2020 in Aultman Hospital. He was born December 31, 1959 in Canton to the late Robert L. Sr. and Margie E. (Bennett) Burns. Robert was a 1979 graduate of Canton South High School. He was employed as a Juvenile Corrections Officer at Indian River Schools for 29 years and a Stark County Sheriff Reserve Deputy for 39 years with the current rank of Captain. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Church of the Brethren, Canton Lodge #60 F&AM, Blue Lodge and Scottish Rite Valley of Canton where he was awarded his Meritorious Service Award. Robert served as an assistant Boy Scout leader with Troop 250 for many years, former member of the Canton Township Volunteer Fire Department and a proud member of the Blue Knights. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Wayne Knight. Robert is survived by his wife, Pamela K. (Hostetler) to whom he was married 38 years; two children, Robert (Cole) Weston and Rebecca (Jacob) Groves; one grandson, Levi Burns; one brother, Galen (Doreen) Burns; one sister, Teresa Knight; several nieces and nephews. A private family graveside service will be conducted in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. A celebration of Robert’s life will be at a future date.
