Robert “Bob” Bowe
lovingly known as Stanley, age 77, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 9, 2017. Bob was born in Canton, Ohio on February 28, 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Ila (Potts) Bowe, his brother Thomas Bowe, and his in-laws Cam and Mary Abbott. Bob and his wife Mary Jean (Abbott) Bowe started ‘liking’ each other when they were 15 under the watchful eyes of the Italian ladies in the neighborhood. They were married on October 14, 1961 and celebrated 55 years together.
Bob is survived by his children: Bob Bowe and Christine Piatkowski of Brighton, Michigan, Chris Bowe and Mari Boulas of Ashland, Nebraska, and Marty and Regina Bowe of Alliance, Ohio. The lights of his life were his granddaughters Sarah and Sophia Bowe. He was blessed with bonus grandchildren Patrick and Jenna Boulas. Bob is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Barb and Gary Siller, his brother-in-law and best friend and sister-in law, Jim and Nancy Abbott, and sisters-in law and brother-in law, Judy and Dan Gill, Donna Abbott, and Nancy Abbott-Long. Bob leaves to cherish his memory many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved their ‘Beeka Bob’.
Bob enjoyed restoring and racing classic cars, feeding his beloved birds, and spending time with his granddogs Booley and Stanley Jr. and granddonkeys Roscoe and Dudley.
Bob graduated from Timken High School in 1958 and retired from American Electric Power after 43 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Canton and Knights of Columbus #4733.
The family would like to thank Dr. James Rajan, Dr. Eric Wang, and the wonderful staff at Aultman Dialysis Center for the excellent care provided to Bob. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday June 15, 2017 at 10:00am in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Canton with Fr. Benson Okpara as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Friends will be received Wednesday 5-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Knights of Columbus prayer services at 8:00pm.
