Richard E. Ziegler Sr.
Age 71, of Canton a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather died Friday, September 25, 2009 in Aultman Hospital following an extended illness. Born November 22, 1937 in Canton to the late Elmer J. and Thelma M. (Hoffman) Ziegler. He was a life resident of Canton and a 1956 graduate of Canton Lincoln High School. Richard was formerly employed as a meat cutter for Sheffler Meats and A&P, owner/operator of Canton South Bowlerama and a custodian for Canton Local Schools retiring in 1999 after 20 years of service. He was a member of Dueber United Methodist Church, the former Canton South Kiwanis, Hall of Fame Luncheon Club, Rubber Capital Jim Beam Bottle Collector's Club and the Greater Canton Bowler's Association Hall of Fame. Survived by his wife of 49 years, Lesleyann H. (Fashbaugh) Ziegler; two sons, Richard E. Ziegler Jr. of Canton, James Ziegler of Massillon; one daughter, Lesley Ziegler of the home; three grandchildren, Danielle and Brent Ziegler, Nate Lewis; one great grandson, Jimmy Dassler; one brother-in-law and spouse, Bill and Miriam Fashbaugh; two sister-in-laws, Janet Mohler and Karen Fashbaugh; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; a close cousin, Jack Mensch; good friend, Jack Lewitzke. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009 at 10:00 am in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home on South Cleveland Ave. with Dr. Chester Harris officiating. Interment in Sunset Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 pm.
