Richard A. Townsend Sr.
Age 77, of Magnolia, passed away Tuesday September 27, 2011 in his home. He was born May 15, 1934 in Canton to the late Carl and Enid (Engelbach) Townsend. Richard was a life resident of the Akron and Canton area and was a U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one daughter, Marie Townsend; four brothers. He is survived by his wife, Margaret M. (Tichon) to whom he was married 51 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Carla Townsend Jr. of San Antonio, TX; two grandchildren, Katelyn and Aaron Townsend; one nephew whom Richard raised, James Tichon; one brother and sister-in-law, David and Marilyn Townsend of Stow; one sister and brother-in-law, Lovisa and Doug Shumate of Knoxville, TN; numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be Saturday October 1, 2011 at 1:00pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with Terry Bailey officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family.
