Richard E. Stallman
Age 84, of East Sparta, passed away Sunday February 17, 2013 in Hennis Care Center in Bolivar. He was born May 29, 1928 in Canton to the late Sidney and Catherine (Weichert) Stallman. Richard was a 1946 graduate of Canton Township High School. He retired from Overhead Door in 1989 after 34 years of service. Richard was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where he had served as a Trustee. He was a member of Pike Grange, Canton South AARP, Caldwell Lodge #330 F&AM, Pike Township Historical Society, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 2370 and was a member of the former J.O.U.A.M. Band. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Timothy E. Stallman in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Joan (Crawford) to whom he was married 62 years; one son and daughter-in-law, Daniel B. and Claudia Stallman of East Sparta; one daughter, Monda Kay Stallman of North Canton; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Graber of Canton. Funeral services will be Wednesday February 20, 2013 at 11:00am in the Asbury United Methodist Church with Pastor Ruthann Bosley officiating. Interment in Melscheimer Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 6-8pm in the Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home with grange services at 5:45pm, and one hour before services on Wednesday at the church (10-11am). In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church. Condolences or fond memories may be shared online at www.sandersfuneralhomes.com.
